Satyrs
Nature’s scouts: Finding demigods before monsters find them.
Satyrs are half man, half goat; most of them work at Camp Half-Blood. Their work includes protecting young demigods and bringing them safely to Camp Half-Blood, as Grover did for Percy.

Lore & Background
Pan, the god of the wild and patron of all satyrs, had been missing for over 2,000 years, and the satyrs sought him fervently.
Reader's Guide
They act as the critical link between the mortal world and Camp Half-Blood. The Council of Cloven Elders grants a searcher's license only to a satyr who has been a successful protector and brought a demigod to Camp Half-Blood alive. Without this invisible network, demigods would die alone in the dark, and the cycle of heroism would break.

- After Percy and his friends find Pan in The Battle of the Labyrinth, he dies peacefully and releases his spirit to them.
- At the end of The Last Olympian, Grover is named a Lord of the Wild and given a seat on the Council of Cloven Elders.
- Fauns are the Roman counterparts of satyrs, but unlike Camp Half-Blood's helpful satyrs they are mostly beggars.
