Artemis
Guardian of the moon and leader of the ageless Hunters.
Artemis is one of the twelve Olympian gods and serves as the Goddess of the Hunt, the Moon, and chastity. Artemis, true to her vows, is distrustful of men and encourages maidenhood. She leads the Hunters of Artemis, a group of girls who gave up love in exchange for immortality and youthfulness.

As a result of her vows she has no demigod children, but recruits Hunters who serve as her companions and attendants; Cabin 8 is her honorary home at Camp Half-Blood, populated only when her Hunters come to visit. In The Titan's Curse she rescues Percy and his friends, but she is later captured, and her lieutenant Zoë Nightshade, daughter of Atlas, leads a quest to save her; the questers find Artemis holding the sky after taking the burden from an exhausted Annabeth, and they trick Atlas into taking it back. Her Roman counterpart Diana appears in The Tyrant's Tomb, when Apollo summons her to help New Rome; Diana kills Tarquin and heals her brother's zombie infection.
Reader's Guide
Artemis is the daughter of Zeus and Leto and the twin sister of Apollo, who first appears in The Titan's Curse transporting a group of demigods and Hunters at her behest. At the end of The Titan's Curse, Thalia Grace becomes lieutenant of the Hunters, which freezes her age the night before her 16th birthday. Reyna later resigns as praetor and joins the Hunters. In The Lightning Thief film Artemis is portrayed by Ona Grauer, and in the TV series by Dafne Keen.
