The Second Titan War
When ancient Titans rose to crush the modern world, only demigods could hold the line.
The Second Titan War stands as the defining conflict of the modern mythological era, a cataclysmic struggle that nearly toppled Mount Olympus and reshaped the fate of demigods forever. Sparked by the Titan Kronos, who had already been possessing Luke Castellan for some time, this war pitted the forces of the Titans against the gods and their demigod children. Its final battle was fought in New York City, where the demigods made their last stand around the Empire State Building to protect Mount Olympus. It served as the fulfillment of the 'Great Prophecy,' forcing young demigods to mature rapidly while deciding whether humanity would be destroyed or saved by their own choices.

Lore & Background
While the Olympians fought the monster Typhon, Kronos's Titan army moved against Olympus. The war was unique in its scale and nature; it was not merely a clash of armies but a battle for the soul of the world. Just before the battle began, New York City was put under a powerful sleeping spell by Morpheus, Hecate and Kronos. Percy called the campers to help defend Olympus, as the gods refused to end their struggle with Typhon. Even when Hades arrived with Nico di Angelo and an army, Kronos still managed to enter Olympus.
Reader's Guide
The war began with subtle incursions as Kronos manipulated the Labyrinth to move his army undetected. In The Battle of the Labyrinth, Luke's army used the Labyrinth to invade Camp Half-Blood. The Titan army then attacked New York City to reach Mount Olympus. Joined by Thalia's Hunters of Artemis, the Party Ponies and a few other allies, the campers struggled to hold back repeated assaults by the Titan army; Camp Half-Blood suffered 16 deaths.
On Olympus, Percy fought Kronos without either side gaining a significant advantage. When Kronos attacked Annabeth, Luke regained control of his body and, with Percy's help, injured himself at his mortal point and defeated Kronos. Hermes later revealed that Kronos is not dead but spread so thin that he can hopefully never form a consciousness again. The aftermath left the world forever changed.
Many heroes fell, but their sacrifice secured peace for another generation. Percy turned down immortal godhood and asked the gods to swear on the River Styx to claim all demigods by the time they turn 13. The Second Titan War proved that while gods hold power, it is the courage of mortals that ultimately shapes destiny.
