Typhon's Monsters refers to Typhon, a very powerful monster born from Gaea and Tartarus, and the monsters he sired by Echidna. In The Last Olympian, the gods fight Typhon as he moves across America, while Kronos attacks Mount Olympus.

Typhon was born from Gaea and Tartarus. In The Battle of the Labyrinth, Percy causes Mount St. Helens, where Typhon sleeps, to erupt, and inadvertently awakens him.

Reader's Guide

Typhon is the monster the Olympians fight in The Last Olympian. His wife Echidna is the mother of Cerberus, the Chimera, the Hydra, the Nemean Lion and Ladon. Their role in the conflict is that of an overwhelming force of nature. They cannot be reasoned with or easily defeated by standard demigod tactics. Typhon reaches New York but is defeated by Poseidon's forces, led by Tyson.
