Aegis Shield

Athena's shield, and the replica Thalia Grace carries.

Aegis is the shield of Athena in Rick Riordan's mythology novels. Thalia Grace, a highly skilled warrior, fights with a replica of the shield named Aegis and a spear. Athena herself is described as a miserable-looking old woman carrying the Aegis shield with Medusa's head carved into it, and with Athena's help and her mother Bellona's, Reyna kills Orion by strangling him with her cloak, which Athena had infused with part of Aegis.
