Tyson
A one-eyed giant with a heart larger than the ocean.
Tyson is a Cyclops, a son of Poseidon and the half-brother of Percy Jackson. First appearing in The Sea of Monsters as a homeless child, Tyson quickly becomes one of Percy's most loyal companions, defying the monstrous reputation typically associated with his kind through his unwavering kindness and bravery. His journey transforms him from a misunderstood outcast into a celebrated hero who serves in Poseidon's army during the Second Titan War. Unlike many cyclopes who dwell in isolation or serve as mindless laborers for gods, Tyson chooses to fight alongside demigods, proving that heritage does not dictate destiny.

Lore & Background
In Greek mythology, cyclopes are often depicted as terrifying monsters or skilled but brutish artisans. He is close with Rainbow the hippocampus, the hellhound Mrs. O'Leary, and the harpy Ella, who eventually becomes his girlfriend. He first appears as a huge homeless kid taken in as a class project by Meriwether Prep; at Camp Half-Blood he is revealed to be a baby Cyclops and a son of Poseidon, and faces a great deal of prejudice from the other campers.
During the quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece, Tyson proved his worth as a fighter and later as a blacksmith, using his strength and craftsmanship to aid the quest. His unique perspective on the world allowed him to contribute in ways that surprised his companions. In The Last Olympian, Tyson helps to defeat Typhon, leading Poseidon's army of Cyclopes, and Zeus then makes him General of the Cyclopes. Tyson's relationship with Percy is the emotional core of his character arc.
While Percy often struggles with the weight of prophecy and leadership, Tyson offers unconditional support, reminding him that family is defined by love rather than bloodlines or species.
