Hunters of Artemis
Sisters of the Moon who hunt monsters and protect the innocent, ageless but not invincible.
The Hunters of Artemis are an ancient order of female warriors dedicated to serving the Greek goddess Artemis, also known as Diana. They roam the wilderness hunting monsters that threaten mortal safety and protecting those who cannot defend themselves. Unlike other demigod groups, they operate independently from Camp Half-Blood while maintaining a strong alliance with it. Membership is open only to girls and women—both mortals and demigods—but requires an unbreakable vow of loyalty. Joining the Hunters grants immortality and freezes a Hunter's age, but Hunters can still be killed, as when the giant Orion massacres Hunters in The Blood of Olympus.

Artemis, true to her vows, encourages maidenhood, and her Hunters serve as her companions and attendants. A Hunter can give up her immortality: the former Hunters Emmie and Josephine did so in the 1980s to grow old together. This permanence makes joining a life-altering decision for any young demigod considering the offer.
Reader's Guide
The Hunters are led by Artemis and her lieutenant: first Zoë Nightshade, then, after The Titan's Curse, Thalia Grace. Their primary goal is hunting monsters that threaten mortal safety while upholding a strict vow of chastity and loyalty to their goddess. Membership is exclusively female, open to both demigods and mortals who accept the eternal bond. Upon joining, members gain immortality but remain vulnerable to death in combat. Key members include Bianca di Angelo, who sacrificed herself fighting Talos to save the others, and Zoë Nightshade, daughter of Atlas. In The Last Olympian, Thalia's Hunters fight beside the Olympian army against the Titan army.
