Lore & Background
The pursuit runs from a shopping mall, where the T-1000 first locates John, to Pescadero State Hospital and finally a steel mill. The T-1000's adaptability forces John and his protectors into desperate flight, constantly one step behind an enemy that reforms instantly from scattered droplets. This chase shifted the franchise focus from brute force to psychological horror and high-octane survival.
Reader's Guide
The conflict begins when Skynet sends the T-1000 back to 1995 Los Angeles to kill young John Connor. Simultaneously, the resistance reprograms a T-800 model to protect him. The T-1000 first locates John in a shopping mall, where the T-800 intervenes and enables his escape. At Pescadero State Hospital the T-800 and John intercept Sarah as she attempts to escape, and the three get away from the pursuing T-1000.
After tracking the Connors and the T-800 to Cyberdyne Systems headquarters, the T-1000 gives chase and crashes a truck carrying liquid nitrogen into a steel mill. The T-800 deduces that the T-1000 has already killed John's foster parents. Each encounter raises tension as the heroes realize they cannot outrun an enemy that never tires. The climax occurs at a steel mill, where Sarah and the reactivated T-800 push the T-1000 into a vat of molten steel.
The heat causes the mimetic polyalloy to lose cohesion, destroying the machine. This ends the immediate threat but solidifies John's resolve against Judgment Day.
