In the Terminator franchise the Federal Bureau of Investigation appears chiefly in the television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. There the Connors are pursued by FBI Special Agent James Ellison, who initially believes Sarah Connor is an insane criminal, based on the events of Terminator 2.

Ellison confides his suspicions about the unusual nature of the case in fellow FBI Agent Greta Simpson, but his theories are discredited by FBI Agent Stewart. The Terminator Cromartie poses as an FBI agent, Robert Kester, while looking for John Connor. When Ellison and Simpson lead a team to apprehend a suspect, Cromartie kills Simpson and 20 other FBI agents but spares Ellison. Later Sarah is questioned about John by FBI Agent Auldridge, and she tells him that John died in 1999.
