T-X
Liquid metal skin. Weaponized soul. Controller of the machine world.
The T-X is a cyborg assassin and infiltrator introduced as the main antagonist of the 2003 film Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, portrayed by Kristanna Loken. It is a composite of the T-800 and the T-1000: a solid endoskeleton covered with liquid metal "mimetic polyalloy", which lets it take the shape of any humanoid it touches. It is designed to terminate not only humans but also rogue Terminators reprogrammed by the Resistance.

Lore & Background
The T-X carries a large arsenal of advanced weapons from the future, including plasma cannons and flamethrowers, and an onboard plasma reactor powers all of its systems. It has a built-in supply of nanobots in its fingers, which it can inject into other machines to control them remotely. Its solid endoskeleton makes it less flexible than the T-1000: it cannot liquefy or fit through narrow openings.
Reader's Guide
In Terminator 3, Skynet sends the T-X back in time to eliminate John Connor's future lieutenants, among them his future wife Kate Brewster and her father Robert. It infiltrates Cyber Research Systems and activates the division's weaponized machines, kills Robert Brewster, and pursues John and Kate to Crystal Peak, a military base. There the T-850 puts its last hydrogen fuel cell into the T-X's mouth, destroying both machines.
Did You Know?
- The T-X's hybrid design, a solid endoskeleton with a shapeshifting liquid metal surface, was the first that let Skynet send more advanced weapons back in time.
- Kristanna Loken had to gain over 15 pounds of muscle to portray the T-X and was trained by a mime coach to develop a robotic style of moving.
- The T-X endoskeleton was painted chrome black and fitted with blue running lights to set it apart from the silver T-850 endoskeleton.
