Kyle Reese was a sergeant in the Resistance who volunteered for the mission. The mission required Reese to navigate 1984 without attracting attention while evading a T-800 Terminator sent by Skynet to eliminate Sarah before she could give birth. Reese had adored Sarah since he saw her in a photograph that John gave him.
