Story
Kyle Reese (Courtney) is sent from 2029 back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke), only to find the timeline changed: Sarah has been raised by a reprogrammed Terminator sent to guard her.
Production and reception
It began after the Halcyon Company went bankrupt following Terminator Salvation; Annapurna Pictures bought the rights in 2011 with Skydance. Paramount released it on July 1, 2015. Critics largely panned the plot while praising some action and Schwarzenegger's return. It grossed $440.6 million, second in the series only to Terminator 2, but fell short of expectations, and its planned sequels and TV spin-off were cancelled.
