The T-X combines a solid endoskeleton with a shapeshifting liquid-metal exterior like the T-1000's. Sent back in time before Judgment Day, the T-X Unit's primary role is to eliminate key figures within the future Resistance movement.

Developed as an evolution of the T-1000 liquid metal technology, the T-X represents a terrifying leap in machine warfare. It has a solid endoskeleton covered with liquid metal mimetic polyalloy, which solved some of the T-1000's problems, such as being deformed by temperature extremes and explosives. The unit was sent back in time to 2003 to eliminate John Connor's future lieutenants, among them his future wife Kate Brewster and her father Robert. It has a built-in supply of nanobots in its fingers, which it can inject into other machines, giving it remote control of them.
