The T-X is a highly advanced Terminator that Skynet sends back in time to kill top members of the future human resistance. Armed with a liquid metal exterior over a durable endoskeleton, the T-X possesses the unique ability to control other machines. Because John Connor has lived off the grid, the T-X targets his future wife, Kate Brewster, to find him.

Reader's Guide
The T-X arrives outside a store, kills a woman and steals her clothes, car and identity, then locates and terminates three of its targets. When it tracks down Kate Brewster in a veterinary hospital it finds John Connor and makes him its primary target, but a T-850 sent to protect its targets rescues them. At Crystal Peak the T-850 uses its last hydrogen fuel cell to destroy both itself and the T-X.
