Lore & Background
The T-1000 crashes a truck carrying liquid nitrogen into the mill and is frozen solid by the leak, allowing the T-800 to shatter it with a single pistol round, but the heat of the steel mill soon thaws the pieces. Sarah and John split up to escape while the T-1000 mangles the T-800 and briefly deactivates it by destroying its power source.
Reader's Guide
The T-1000 assumes Sarah's appearance and voice to lure out John, but Sarah intervenes and, together with the reactivated T-800, pushes it into a vat of molten steel, where it disintegrates. John throws the arm and CPU of the 1984 Terminator into the vat as well. The T-800 explains that it must also be destroyed so that it cannot serve as a foundation for Skynet; Sarah lowers it into the vat, and it gives John a thumbs-up as it is incinerated.
