Her death represents the tragic culmination of her desire to break the wheel, which ultimately twisted into a need for absolute control through fire and blood. After the massacre in King's Landing, her advisors realized she posed an existential threat to the realm. Jon Snow, burdened by his true lineage as Aegon Targaryen, understood that he was the only one with the right to stop her without sparking another civil war among her loyalists.

Reader's Guide

The event begins after Daenerys burns King's Landing despite its surrender, convincing her inner circle she is unfit to rule. Varys plots against her but is executed for treason, confirming her paranoia. Jon Snow learns his true parentage from Bran Stark, realizing he has a stronger claim than the Queen. Tyrion advises Jon that Daenerys must be stopped before she destroys more of Westeros in her quest to liberate it through destruction.

Jon confronts her in the throne room after she declares war on the living world. Despite his love for her, he recognizes the necessity of killing a tyrant to save the realm from endless cycles of violence and dragon fire. Drogon arrives moments later but spares Jon, sensing his Targaryen blood. The dragon melts the Iron Throne and carries Daenerys's body away, leaving Jon alone with the consequences of regicide.
