Quick Facts

Faith: R'hllor
Claimed for: Stannis Baratheon (by Melisandre)

Lore & Background

The prophecy belongs to a world where a decades-long winter, the Long Night, once let the Others emerge from the Land of Always Winter, and where many now fear that a longer and harsher winter will follow a decade-long summer.

The red priestess Melisandre believes Stannis Baratheon to be the reincarnation of Azor Ahai and travels to his island stronghold, Dragonstone. Later, noting that her powers are stronger at the Wall, she asks R'hllor for a vision of Azor Ahai but sees only "Snow".
