The Big Three

Lemillion, Suneater and Nejire Chan: U.A.'s three strongest hero students.

The Big Three are the third-year students who represent U.A. High School's top hero candidates in terms of strength and are widely known as the three strongest hero students in Japan. Shota Aizawa introduces them to Class 1-A after the second-term orientation so that they can explain the Hero Work-Studies that students take on under their own merit.

Background

Through the Hero Work-Studies the three have improved their skills and mastered their powerful Quirks at a young age, and they are considered to be above Pro Hero level. After the final battle against the League of Villains they return to U.A. for a proper graduation ceremony.

Mirio Togata, hero name Lemillion, leads the group; his Quirk Permeation lets him phase through anything solid, including the ground, and he chose his name because he wanted to help at least a million people. Goofy on the surface, with a corny sense of humour, Mirio is loyal to his cause and an optimist who rarely stops smiling. His laid-back manner hides real bravery: he has experience dealing with dangerous people and does not scare easily. He chats with Overhaul in his usual cheerful way despite knowing the man is a dangerous yakuza member, and he is bold enough to take on four Shie Hassaikai members by himself. Sir Nighteye believes he could succeed All Might as the Symbol of Peace. Mirio loses his Quirk during the Shie Hassaikai Raid but regains it thanks to Eri in time to join the Final War, and eight years later, in the final chapter, he has become Japan's new number one hero.

Tamaki Amajiki, hero name Suneater, gains the characteristics of anything he eats through his Quirk Manifest, yet suffers from social anxiety and low self-esteem, often facing a wall to hide; Horikoshi drew that anxiety from his own experience of the crowd at Jump Festa 2017. Friendless in middle school, he was befriended by Mirio, and inspired by Mirio's bravery in the yakuza raid he takes on three villains alone to uphold the faith of Fat Gum and the others. Nejire Hado, hero name Nejire Chan, converts her stamina into spiral shockwaves with her Quirk Wave Motion; enthusiastic, affable and curious, she won the U.A. School Festival beauty pageant on her third try after twice losing to Class 3-G's Bibimi Kenranzaki, had her long hair burned off by Dabi during the war, and shows rare anger and sharp judgement in her battle against Tomura and the High-Ends.
