Background

For all his frightening looks, Mezo is friendly and gentle and works well with anyone. His hometown was prejudiced against people with monstrous Quirks, so he was bullied for his appearance as a child and took to wearing a mask so that children would not cry. Saving a girl taught him pride in his body and inspired him to become a hero who fights prejudice.

He bears no grudges and shows no ill will to anyone who harms him unwittingly. Selfless enough to risk his life for anyone, he combines empathy and understanding with the maturity and sense of responsibility that keep him from acting on emotional impulses. He is very protective of his classmates, above all when they are hurt, and the guidebook notes that his feelings for his friends outstrip anyone else's and that he does not mind sacrificing himself.
