Tomura Shigaraki is the primary antagonist of the My Hero Academia series, leading the League of Villains and later the Paranormal Liberation Front. Originally a troubled child named Tenko Shimura, he was manipulated by the villain All For One after a tragic event that killed his family. Shigaraki's Quirk, Decay, lets him disintegrate whatever he touches with his fingers, along with anything connected to it. He is driven by hatred of heroes and of the society built around them.

Tomura Shigaraki is the leader of the League of Villains, a group that initially attacked Class 1-A and All Might during one of their classes. He is the apprentice of All For One and the grandson of the deceased seventh One For All user Nana Shimura. Shigaraki's Quirk, Decay, manifested when he accidentally killed his family, and he was later taken in by All For One. He led the League in kidnapping Katsuki Bakugo during a summer training camp, hoping to recruit him. After the League merged with the Meta Liberation Army to become the Paranormal Liberation Front, Shigaraki underwent a procedure to obtain All For One's Quirk of stealing and transferring other Quirks. He awoke from the procedure and went on a massive destruction spree, causing widespread chaos. During the war, Deku saw Shigaraki possessed by All For One's vestige.

Reader's Guide

Tomura Shigaraki began life as Tenko Shimura, the grandson of Nana Shimura. His childhood ended in tragedy when his Quirk Decay manifested and he accidentally killed his family. This event severed his connection to society, leading to a period of isolation where he was manipulated by All For One. All For One groomed Tenko into Tomura, convincing him that heroes were the root of all suffering and that true freedom required their destruction.

All For One established the League of Villains and led it at first; Shigaraki took full control after his master's arrest. Decay disintegrates whatever his fingers touch and spreads to anything connected to it. He later undergoes a procedure that gives him All For One's own Quirk, the power to steal and transfer Quirks. Shigaraki's evolution from a reactive teen to the leader of the Paranormal Liberation Front marks his shift toward calculated genocide.

In the final battle he destroys All For One's vestige and takes back control of his body, intent on destroying everything; before dying he concedes defeat to Deku.
