U.A. High School

Japan's top-ranked academy for heroes in training.

U.A. High School is the school at the centre of My Hero Academia: a top-ranked academy for training heroes, counted among the most prestigious in Japan. It stands on a forested hill near Shizuoka Prefecture. Izuku Midoriya enrols in its Hero Course, in Class 1-A, after All Might passes his Quirk on to him.

Lore & Background

The school offers four courses: Hero, General, Support and Management. Students who miss the Hero Course are placed in the General Course, and they can still transfer by impressing the faculty at the Sports Festival and keeping passing grades. U.A. does not follow traditional school methods: its teachers may run their classes as they like, and may even expel students for any reason, though an expelled student can be re-enrolled. The principal is Nezu, and the teaching staff are Pro Heroes such as Eraser Head, Present Mic, Midnight, Cementoss, Thirteen and, for a time, All Might.

Reader's Guide

After the villain attack on the summer training camp, U.A. suspects a traitor and moves its students into dorms. Students of the Hero Course take the Provisional Hero License Exam and can then do Hero Work-Studies under Pro Heroes. Later in the story, after the Paranormal Liberation War, the school serves as a refuge for evacuated civilians. Its main rival is Shiketsu High School, regarded as the top hero school in West Japan.
