Japan

The country where almost all of My Hero Academia takes place.

Japan is the main setting of My Hero Academia. The series' world has heroes everywhere, with the first reported Quirk appearing in China and the United States known as the birthplace of heroes, but the story follows Japan's heroes, its hero schools and its villains. Its number one hero at the start is All Might.

Lore & Background

U.A. High School, the most prestigious of the country's hero schools, stands on a forested hill near Shizuoka Prefecture, and its students come from prefectures all over the country. Shiketsu High School is regarded as the top hero school of West Japan. Pro Heroes are ranked on the Japanese Hero Billboard Chart. The criminal underworld is run by yakuza groups such as the Shie Hassaikai, pushed into the shadows during All Might's rise.

Reader's Guide

The great battles of the story are fought on Japanese soil: Kamino Ward, Deika City, Jaku City and the Gunga Mountain Villa. When All For One escapes and hero society collapses, heroes abroad are held back from helping Japan; only the American hero Star and Stripe comes, and she dies fighting Shigaraki.
