Meta Liberation Army

The villain army that calls Quirks "Meta Abilities" and wants them free.

The Meta Liberation Army is a powerful villain organisation in My Hero Academia, founded and first led by the infamous villain Destro. Its members call Quirks "Meta Abilities" and hold that using them freely is a basic human right. While in prison Destro wrote Meta Liberation War, an autobiography setting out that ideology, which has been reprinted several times.

Lore & Background

In the present the army is led by Re-Destro (Rikiya Yotsubashi), a descendant of Destro whose Quirk, Stress, turns his stress and anger into raw power. His executives are the politician Trumpet, who strengthens his followers with his voice; the tech-minded Skeptic, who turns objects into puppet lookalikes of people; the journalist Curious, who turns what she touches into bombs; and the ice user Geten. The hero Slidin' Go secretly works for the army as a double agent.

Reader's Guide

The army sets out to wipe out the League of Villains, and the two groups fight in Deika City. Curious is killed by Himiko Toga, Geten fights Dabi to a stalemate, and Shigaraki defeats Re-Destro, who submits. Shigaraki then merges both organisations into the Paranormal Liberation Front, with Re-Destro as one of its lieutenants. Most of the former executives are arrested in the Jaku Hospital Raid; Skeptic is caught later, during the Final War arc. The story is told in the manga's Meta Liberation Army arc, chapters 218 to 240.
