Joint Training Arc

Chapters 194 to 217: Class 1-A meets Class 1-B, and One For All wakes up.

The Joint Training Arc of My Hero Academia covers chapters 194 to 217 of the manga and is adapted in the fifth season of the anime. Its centre is a battle exercise at Field Gamma between Class 1-A and Class 1-B, with Hitoshi Shinso of the General Course joining in as he tries for a transfer to the Hero Course.

Lore & Background

The arc is also where One For All begins to change. Before the exercise Izuku Midoriya dreams of the Quirk's creation and of its first holder, Yoichi. In his own match black tendrils burst out of him, and in the vestige world the fifth holder, Daigoro Banjo, tells him they are his old Quirk, Blackwhip, and that the Quirks of all the past holders are starting to appear. Shota Aizawa lets the match go on in spite of the danger.

Reader's Guide

Class 1-A wins the exercise overall, and Shinso earns the passing grade he needs. Afterwards the two classes spend time together at Heights Alliance. Aizawa takes Neito Monoma to see Eri, hoping his Copy Quirk can help her train, and Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki finally earn their provisional licenses.
