Lore & Background

The game is set in a Persian Empire on the brink of collapse after over 30 years of drought, famine, and invasion. Sargon, the youngest member of the Immortals, kills the Kushan general Uvishka. During victory celebrations, General Anahita abducts Prince Ghassan. Sargon and the Immortals pursue her to Mount Qaf, a sacred citadel destroyed by an unknown curse.

Sargon gains time-manipulation abilities by collecting feathers of the Simurgh. He eventually learns that the Immortals' leader Vahram is the true culprit, having killed the prince to usurp the throne. Sargon is thrown from a cliff but survives, and an old man named Alkara tells him he can reverse time by bargaining with the snake god Azhdaha. Sargon gains the blessing of four Celestial Guardians, is sent back in time, thwarts Vahram's attempt to kill Ghassan, and battles Vahram, learning that Vahram is the long-lost son of King Darius, whom Queen Thomyris assassinated.
