Lore & Background
After over 30 years of drought, famine, and invasion from the Kushan Empire, the Persian Empire is on the brink of collapse. The Immortals repel a Kushan invasion, and Sargon kills the Kushan general Uvishka. During victory celebrations, Sargon's mentor General Anahita abducts Prince Ghassan. Sargon and the Immortals pursue her to Mount Qaf, a citadel destroyed by an unknown curse. They become trapped by a time anomaly. Sargon recovers feathers of the Simurgh, gaining magical abilities. He saves Ghassan, but the Immortals' leader Vahram kills the prince, revealing himself as the true culprit. Sargon survives a fall and meets Alkara, who tells him he can reverse time by bargaining with the snake god Azhdaha. Sargon gains the blessing of four Celestial Guardians, is sent back in time, and thwarts Vahram's attempt to murder Ghassan, though Anahita dies. Vahram battles Sargon, and Sargon learns Vahram is the long-lost son of King Darius, whom Queen Thomyris assassinated.
In Their Own Story
The heavy iron door stood silent against the wind-swept courtyard, its surface etched with runes that seemed to shift when viewed from the corner of the eye. The Prince pressed his back against the rough stone wall, breathing heavily after a narrow escape from the Shadow Warriors. He knew the path forward was sealed not by magic alone, but by a mechanism hidden in the past. With a deep breath, he focused on the Dagger at his hip, feeling the hum of time's flow. He leaped onto the crumbling ledge above, wall-running across the gap to reach the ancient lever. As he pulled it back, the sand around him swirled violently, and the heavy door groaned open, revealing a staircase that had not existed moments before.
Reader's Guide
The Lost Crown is a 2.5D side-scrolling action-adventure game with Metroidvania elements. Players control Sargon, who uses daggers to perform combos, aerial attacks, charged attacks, and parries. Yellow-flash attacks can be parried with vengeful counters. Unblockable attacks must be dodged. Players unlock bows, arrows, and a chakram for ranged combat. Athra Surges are powerful attacks that consume points. Sargon can jump, slide, and unlock time powers such as air dashing, double jumping, grappling, Shadow of the Simurgh (placing a temporary checkpoint), Dimensional Claw (capturing objects/enemies), and Clairvoyance (toggling platform states). These abilities solve puzzles and remove obstacles. Accessibility features allow independent toggling of exploration, platforming, and combat difficulty, including a platform-assist option. Locations are interconnected with shortcuts, secret rooms, side quests, optional bosses, treasure chests, health upgrades, and amulets (up to 12 slots). Time crystals purchase upgrades. Statues serve as fast travel points. Wak-Wak trees are respawn points that restore health and refill potions, and allow changing amulets and Athra Surges. Players can pin screenshots to the map. Guided mode marks quest objectives; Exploration mode removes them.
