Background

In July 2025 Horikoshi was confirmed to be heavily involved in the production, providing new original scenes that were not in the manga. The season picks up where the seventh left off and follows the remaining final battles between the Heroes and Villains, including Izuku Midoriya against Tomura Shigaraki and All Might against All For One, with the fate of the world in the balance; as both sides push themselves to their limits, Izuku is determined to save the world and become the greatest hero, and the season shows the future of hero society and the characters' lives.

A bonus television special adapting chapter 431, which had been bundled with the manga's final volume, premiered on May 2, 2026. A theatrical event, My Hero Academia Final Season: Ultra Screening, played every episode of the season in 12 Japanese theaters on December 13, 2025, with the final episode coinciding with its television airing. Crunchyroll licensed the season outside Asia and streamed it with an English dub two weeks after the Japanese broadcast, while Medialink licensed it in Asia-Pacific.

The opening theme is "The Revo" by Porno Graffitti, who had provided the first season's opening "The Day", and the ending theme is "I" by Bump of Chicken. Toho Animation released the season on Blu-ray and DVD in two volumes, on February 18 and May 20, 2026.
