Lore & Background

The backstory of Final Fantasy V reveals that one millennium prior, a mage named Enuo used an entity called the 'Void' to imperil the world. The people split the four elemental Crystals into two sets, creating two worlds and sealing the Void in a dimensional cleft. Malicious demons sealed inside the Great Forest of Moore eventually merged to form Exdeath. Thirty years before the game's events, Galuf, along with Dorgann Klauser, Kelger Vlondett, and Xezat Matias Surgate—the Four Warriors of Dawn—sealed Exdeath within the first world using its Crystals. Nearly a thousand years passed until Exdeath resurfaced, prompting Bartz to investigate the fallen meteor where he met Galuf.

The narrative begins with Bartz investigating a fallen meteor where he encounters Lenna, Galuf, and Faris. They journey to the Wind Shrine after learning of the weakening Crystal. Upon failing to save the Water, Fire, and Earth crystals from Exdeath's influence, the party is defeated. King Tycoon sacrifices himself to destroy the final crystal. Krile arrives via a meteorite on Bartz's world, restoring Galuf's complete memory. He reveals his origin in the other world where Exdeath resides and resolves to return there with Krile, Bartz, Lenna, and Faris to stop the sorcerer.
