Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII is a shooter with first- and third-person elements, set one year after Advent Children. It centres on Vincent Valentine, one of the original game's optional characters, as its main playable character; Cait Sith is playable for a single level.
Lore & Background
The antagonists are Deepground, an organisation that plans to use the creature Omega to destroy the Planet's life. Its highest-ranking members, the Tsviets, are led by Weiss the Immaculate, with his brother Nero the Sable commanding in the field alongside Rosso the Crimson, Shelke the Transparent and Azul the Cerulean. The Japan-only online mode adds the Restrictors, Deepground's former leaders, who controlled soldiers through implanted microchips until Weiss overcame the control.
A mobile spin-off, Dirge of Cerberus Lost Episode, was released in North America on August 22, 2006. Masashi Hamauzu composed the soundtrack, and the game received a mixed critical response. Vincent's Limit Breaks return from the original game in two forms.
