The war with the Reapers is a storyline of the eleventh and final season of The Walking Dead: Maggie leads a mission, Negan among its members, to reclaim her old village Meridian from a violent group called the Reapers, led by Pope.
Lore & Background
The Reapers ambush Maggie's team in the woods, killing or scattering most of it, and Maggie and Negan are forced to leave the injured Alden behind. Regrouping with Gabriel and Maggie's friend Elijah, they lead a zombie horde, wearing Whisperer masks, against Meridian, where Daryl has infiltrated the Reapers' ranks.
Reader's Guide
The assault goes wrong when Leah Shaw, Daryl's former lover, kills Pope and orders a rocket barrage on the courtyard where Maggie, Negan, Daryl and Elijah are. In the end the Reapers are defeated, and Negan leaves on his own, realizing that Maggie will never let go of her hatred of him.
