Image Comics is an American independent comic book publisher founded in 1992 by a group of high-profile illustrators as a home for creator-owned work. It published The Walking Dead from 2003, a run of 193 issues that Robert Kirkman ended in 2019.

Lore & Background

Image co-founder Jim Valentino suggested that Kirkman use an original concept rather than an existing property, so that the creators would own it outright. Tony Moore drew the first six issues. When the TV series premiered in 2010 Image launched The Walking Dead Weekly, in 2018 it and its imprint Skybound Entertainment announced The Walking Dead Day, and in 2020 it began republishing the whole series in colour by Dave McCaig.
