Founded by a charismatic former zookeeper named Ezekiel, who adopted the persona of a king to inspire his followers, The Kingdom was built around the idea that humanity could do more than just survive. The community developed a unique culture featuring theater productions in their auditorium, school lessons for children, and a strict code of honor. Central to their identity was Shiva, a massive Bengal tiger that Ezekiel claimed as his pet and protector; in reality, the animal was trained to respond to commands, serving as both a psychological deterrent to enemies and a source of awe for residents. The Kingdom's infrastructure relied heavily on the repurposed high school buildings, which were fortified with walls and watchtowers. They maintained a thriving agricultural sector and a dedicated militia, simply referred to as the Kingdom's soldiers or fighters, with no official name like 'Kingdom Guard' in the canon. While they enjoyed a period of relative peace under Ezekiel's rule, their military capabilities were later bolstered by Carol Peletier, who voluntarily left Alexandria and came to the Kingdom, where she became involved in training.
