Rick is the show's protagonist, a former sheriff's deputy who leads a group of survivors and later the Alexandria Safe-Zone. Lincoln left the series during its ninth season, and the franchise planned further stories about Rick after his exit. He was nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Actor on Television for the role.
