Overhaul

The yakuza boss who takes things apart and puts them back together.

Kai Chisaki, known as Overhaul, is the mysophobic crime boss of the Shie Hassaikai, a yakuza group in My Hero Academia. His Quirk, also called Overhaul, lets him disassemble anything he touches and reassemble it in any configuration he wants. He can use it to fuse with other people, gaining their Quirks, and to heal his own injuries.

Lore & Background

Chisaki was adopted by the group's former boss and tried to make himself an honourable yakuza. He is obsessed with restoring the yakuza to their former standing, and his plan is to produce a Quirk-destroying drug, together with a serum, and monopolise both on the black market. The drug is made by experimenting on Eri, the old boss's granddaughter. When the boss refuses to approve the plan, Overhaul secretly puts him into a coma, intending to revive him once the plan has succeeded.

Reader's Guide

Deku defeats Overhaul during the raid on the Shie Hassaikai, and he is sent to Tartarus. On the way, the League of Villains intercepts his transport and destroys his hands so that he can no longer use his Quirk. He escapes in the Tartarus breakout and guides Lady Nagant to Deku in return for being taken to his former boss. Back in prison, he accepts Deku's condition of seeking Eri's forgiveness in return for visitation rights.
