Eijiro Kirishima

The hardening hero who defines strength by his willingness to protect.

Eijiro Kirishima is a student in U.A. High School's Class 1-A. His Quirk, Hardening, allows him to harden any part of his body, making it tough and durable. He is a boisterous young man who is fond of the concept of manliness, describing people and things he likes or dislikes as "manly" or "unmanly". He is determined and selfless, putting the safety of others before his own, and can be very hard on himself when things go badly for his friends.

Lore & Background

His favourite hero is Crimson Riot, whose speech restored his resolve in middle school after he had hesitated to save classmates from a villain. He develops a friendship with Katsuki Bakugo and a friendly rivalry with Tetsutetsu of Class 1-B, whose Quirk resembles his. He is one of five Class 1-A students who fail the first-term final exam and are sent to remedial courses. He interns with the Pro Hero Fat Gum, and on patrol in Esuha City he first uses his "Red Riot: Unbreakable" technique to take down criminals after Tamaki Amajiki is shot. During the Jaku Hospital Raid he is the one who sedates the giant villain Gigantomachia.

Eijiro Kirishima serves as the physical and emotional shield of Class 1-A. His Quirk, Hardening, lets him harden his body, though there is a limit to how much damage the hardened body can withstand and the effect slowly dissipates. His hardened body can only take so much damage, the effect fades slowly, and keeping it up costs him stamina. He later develops a technique he calls Red Riot: Unbreakable. In the raid on the Shie Hassaikai he and Fat Gum defeat Kendo Rappa and Hekiji Tengai of the Eight Bullets.
