Lore & Background
Under Giovanni Trapattoni, Juventus won the UEFA Cup (1976–77), the Cup Winners' Cup (1983–84), and the European Champions' Cup (1984–85), becoming the first club to win all three major UEFA competitions. With additional triumphs in the 1984 European Super Cup and 1985 Intercontinental Cup, they became the first in football history to complete a clean sweep of international trophies. This record was improved by winning the 1999 UEFA Intertoto Cup, and Juventus remained the only club to have won every official UEFA men's club tournament until the first 2022 Europa Conference League final.
Reader's Guide
Juventus's achievement of winning all major UEFA competitions is a historic milestone. The club's success under Trapattoni in the late 1970s and 1980s laid the foundation for this clean sweep, which was later extended with the Intertoto Cup win in 1999.
