Born in Barengo, Piedmont, Boniperti signed for Juventus at age 16. He played his first match for Juventus in Serie A on 2 March 1947 against A.C. Milan. His first goal for them in the league was three months later, against Sampdoria. He ended his first season with five goals in six games.

In his second season, he scored 27 goals and finished as the league's top scorer. Boniperti's first league championship with Juventus was during the 1949–50 season. By his 24th birthday, he had scored 100 goals for the club, adding a second scudetto in 1951–52. He was named the club's captain in 1954.

In 1957, Juventus signed John Charles and Omar Sívori, forming the Magical Trio. During his last four seasons, Juventus won Serie A three times (1957–58, 1959–60, 1960–61) and Coppa Italia twice (1958–59, 1959–60). At retirement, Boniperti was Juventus' all-time top goalscorer with 182 goals. He held the club record for most Serie A appearances (443) until Alessandro Del Piero beat it on 14 February 2010.

He also held the record for most minutes played in Serie A by a Juventus player (39,680) until Gianluigi Buffon surpassed it on 19 March 2017.

Giampiero Boniperti played his entire professional career (1946–1961) for Juventus, signing at age 16. With 182 goals in all competitions, he was the club's top scorer for over 40 years until Alessandro Del Piero broke the record on 10 January 2006. Boniperti earned 38 caps for Italy, scoring 8 goals and captaining the team in 24 matches. He made his debut on 9 November 1947 against Austria (a 5–1 loss) and scored his first international goal against them in May 1949 (a 3–1 win). He represented Italy at the 1950 and 1954 FIFA World Cups (captaining the side in 1954) and the 1952 Summer Olympics.

Enduring Legacy Beyond the Pitch

After retiring as a player, Boniperti became a director for Juventus in 1971, serving as chairman of the board of directors for many years before becoming one of the club's honorary chairmen alongside Franzo Grande Stevens. He was elected as a deputy to the European Parliament with Forza Italia from 1994 until 1999. His grandson Filippo also played football for Juventus and the Italy U19 team.
