In the 64th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo broke the deadlock; a corner from the left deflected off Tiémoué Bakayoko's back before finding Ronaldo, who finished from six yards out. The game remained tense until the 80th minute when Napoli was awarded a penalty with a chance to level at 1–1. However, Lorenzo Insigne missed the net, sending his shot wide to the left. The victory was sealed in the 5th minute of added time by Álvaro Morata. After Juan Cuadrado drew goalkeeper David Ospina into the box and passed him the ball, Morata struck a low shot to the right, securing the 2–0 win.
