The 1904 American League pennant was won by the Boston Americans (later renamed the Red Sox). The team was purchased by John I. Taylor in November 1903. The 1904 team found itself in a pennant race against the New York Highlanders. However, no World Series was played that year because the New York Giants refused to participate.
