Background
Rich Gedman's two-run homer put Boston up 2–0, but Bob Boone homered and Bobby Grich's two-run homer, deflected over the fence by Henderson, gave the Angels a 3–2 lead in the sixth; they added two runs in the seventh off Bob Stanley. In the ninth Don Baylor's two-run homer off Mike Witt cut the lead to one, and Henderson's homer gave Boston a 6–5 lead before the Angels tied it in the bottom of the inning. In the 11th Henderson's sacrifice fly off Moore scored Baylor, and Calvin Schiraldi retired the Angels in order.
