The franchise was founded in Kansas City in 1894 as the minor league Kansas City Blues. The team relocated to Washington, D.C. in 1901 to become the major league Washington Senators. The franchise moved to Minnesota and was renamed the Minnesota Twins for the start of the 1961 season. The Twins played in Metropolitan Stadium from 1961 to 1981 and in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome from 1982 to 2009. The team has played at Target Field since 2010. The franchise won the World Series in 1924 as the Senators, and in 1987 and 1991 as the Twins.

In Their Own Story

On December 8, 2009, the Twins moved him off their roster via designation for assignment. Just two days later, on December 10, the deal was finalized: Bonser headed to the Boston Red Sox organization. The return package for Minnesota included minor league right-handed pitcher Chris Province. This trade occurred after Bonser had spent several years in Minneapolis, where he earned his first victory against the Seattle Mariners and solidified a starting rotation spot during the 2006 playoff push. His time with the Twins also saw him pitch in the postseason against the Oakland Athletics, earning a no-decision as Minnesota fell short. The trade to Boston represented a new chapter for the pitcher who had once been a top prospect traded away by the Giants.
