Toronto Blue Jays

Canada's American League East club.

The Blue Jays play in the American League East and are based in Toronto, at Rogers Centre (formerly SkyDome) since 1989. They joined MLB as an expansion club in 1977, first at Exhibition Stadium, and are now the only big-league team outside the United States after the Montreal Expos moved to Washington in 2005.

Struggles in their early years gave way to a first winning record in 1983 and a division title in 1985. Between 1985 and 1993 they took five AL East crowns and back-to-back World Series in 1992 and 1993, the first won by a club based outside the US, with Roberto Alomar, Joe Carter, John Olerud and Devon White. A 21-year playoff drought ended in 2015; they returned to the World Series in 2025 and lost to the Dodgers. Rogers Communications has owned the club since 2000, and pandemic border rules sent home games to Buffalo and Dunedin, Florida, in 2020 and 2021.
