Seattle Mariners
Seattle's American League West club.
The Mariners are Seattle's MLB team, in the American League West. They joined the AL as an expansion club in 1977, after a lawsuit over the Pilots' move to Milwaukee, and played at the Kingdome before moving to today's T-Mobile Park.

Their first winning season came in 1991, and with Ken Griffey Jr., Edgar Martínez and Randy Johnson they won their first division title in 1995, beating the Yankees in the ALDS on Martínez's famous extra-inning double. In 2001 they won 116 games, an AL record that tied the major-league mark. A long playoff drought lasted until 2022, and they won the AL West again in 2025. They are the only active franchise never to reach a World Series. Nintendo of America bought the team after the 1992 season.
