The White Sox are one of Chicago's two MLB clubs, playing in the American League Central at Rate Field on the city's South Side, which gives them the nickname "South Siders". They started in the Western League in 1894 as the Sioux City Cornhuskers, moved to St. Paul, and settled in Chicago in 1900 under Charles Comiskey, becoming a charter member of the AL in 1901.

Lore & Background

They won the 1906 World Series over the Cubs and the 1917 Series over the New York Giants. In the 1919 Series eight players conspired with gamblers to lose to Cincinnati, and Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis banned them for life in the Black Sox Scandal. Since then the club has reached only two World Series, losing to the Dodgers in 1959 and beating Houston in 2005, which ended an 88-season wait, the longest drought in AL history.
