Nemu Kurotsuchi
Mayuri's artificial daughter and Squad Twelve's lieutenant.
Nemu Kurotsuchi is the lieutenant of Squad Twelve for most of Bleach. Also called Nemuri VII, she is an artificial person created by her captain, Mayuri Kurotsuchi, through the Nemuri Project.

Lore & Background
The Nemuri Project used Gigai and Mod Souls to make new life, and Nemu outlived Mayuri's earlier failed "sisters". She is quiet, keeps silent around her captain and speaks in a flat monotone. Mayuri calls her his daughter but acts cold to hide his pride in a stable artificial life; she learns this from Akon and keeps it to herself. She saves Uryū Ishida's life out of thanks for sparing Mayuri.
Fighting the Quincy Pernida Parnkgjas, she defies Mayuri's orders, throws him clear and takes Pernida on alone, sacrificing herself so that Pernida dies painfully from eating her cells. Mayuri saves her brain, Akon takes over as lieutenant, and Mayuri makes a younger Nemuri VIII as his new assistant.
Body
Her Gigai body survives fatal wounds, resists poisons and is packed with toxins and serums, so anyone who eats or attacks her from inside is in danger. It regenerates under her brain's control but still feels pain. She has superhuman strength and can spin her arms into drills. She normally carries no zanpakutō, though one appears in the art book All Colour but the Black.
