Hanatarō Yamada
Squad Four's timid healer who helps Ichigo save Rukia.
Hanatarō Yamada is the Seventh Seat of Squad Four in Bleach and leader of Relief Team Fourteen. Nervous and clumsy, he is a gifted healer who sides with Ichigo during Rukia's rescue.

Lore & Background
He is timid and easily fooled, yet bold when it counts: he risks his place as a Soul Reaper to help Rukia escape execution and heals Ichigo several times. He usually carries Squad Four's medical pack instead of his sword. His older brother, Seinosuke, was Squad Four's lieutenant a century earlier.
Because of his ties to Ichigo, Rukia and Renji, he goes to Hueco Mundo with the reinforcements, assigned to Byakuya. Rukia, under Zommari Leroux's control, injures him there, but he recovers and goes back to work. He is also among the officers ordered to give some of their spiritual pressure to restore Ichigo's powers, an order meant only for captains and lieutenants.
Hisagomaru
His sword heals what it strikes, and a red gauge on the blade fills with the wounds it has healed. Released with "Fulfill" when full, it becomes a scalpel named Akeiro Hisagomaru and fires a spiritual blast matching the healing stored, nearly enough to behead a Menos. It is the only known zanpakutō with different names sealed and released.
