Szayelaporro Grantz

Lore & Background

His Fracción are Hollows he experimented on and modified so he can heal by eating them. The light novel The Spirits are Forever With You says he was an alchemist in life; he and his older brother Ilfort were devoured by a Menos born from the souls they had killed. Szayelaporro kept his mind, became the Hollow's core and grew into a Vasto Lorde serving Baraggan. He offered himself to Aizen as the first Zero Espada, then purged Ilfort from his body to perfect himself and lost much of his power, which led him to help Nnoitra get rid of Nelliel to regain his place.

He has Rudbornn bring him defeated Arrancar so he can study the abilities of whoever beat them. He fights Renji Abarai, using what he learned from his brother's fight to counter Renji, and then Uryū Ishida, whose powers he cancels after studying another Arrancar's body. Mayuri Kurotsuchi steps in, counters each trick and kills him with his bankai. Szayelaporro is briefly reborn through Nemu, but swallows Mayuri's "Superhuman Potion" stored in her body, which speeds his mind so much that a second feels like a century, and Mayuri lets him die slowly. In the Hell Verse prequel and the one-shot No Breathes From Hell, he ends up in Hell.

Powers

Released, he grows two pairs of tentacles hung with sacs like fruit. A spray of purple liquid creates weak clones of anyone it touches, which multiply when destroyed. Draining an enemy's nutrients lets him make a voodoo doll of them with toy organs he can break. His prized ability lets him be reborn from inside an enemy, killing them.
