Lore & Background

He ruled from a roofless castle, claiming the whole sky of Hueco Mundo as his roof. Aizen offered him more power; Baraggan refused, but submitted after Aizen easily killed many of his followers, and he held a grudge for the rest of his career. His name refers to the Mexican architect Luis Barragán, whose minimalist style shaped the design of Hueco Mundo's castles.

With all his Fracción dead he takes on Suì-Fēng and Ōmaeda himself and gains the edge until the Visored arrive. Hachigen's layered kidō barriers contain his ageing power long enough for Suì-Fēng to wound him with her bankai. Baraggan answers with his Respira at full strength and rots Hachigen's arm, but Hachigen uses kidō to move the arm, and the decay with it, into Baraggan's stomach. Dissolving from inside, Baraggan makes a last failed try at Aizen's life before he dies.

Powers

He controls entropy, ageing and slowing anyone near him so attacks hardly reach him, and his touch can wither limbs. His zanpakutō is a giant battle-axe kept in his throne of skulls. Released, he returns to his old Hollow form, a floating crowned lich with a larger axe; everything around him rots away, and he breathes Respira, a mist that decays living things, objects, barriers and weapons alike.
