Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez

Lore & Background

Before becoming an Arrancar he was a panther-like Adjuchas who led a tight gang of five other Adjuchas, all of whom became his Fracción. He answers to no authority except Sousuke Aizen, yet he has his own code: he pays back debts and refuses to fight handicapped opponents. His name comes from the architect Nicholas Grimshaw and the German word for hunter, and his blue hair is styled after Billy Idol. What is left of his Hollow mask is a right jawbone that still moves, and his Hollow hole is in his abdomen.

He and his Fracción raid Ichigo's hometown on impulse and are beaten by the Soul Reapers posted there; only Grimmjow comes back alive, after an unfinished fight with Ichigo. He is demoted and maimed for it, but after Orihime Inoue restores his arm he takes his rank back by killing his replacement, Luppi Antenor. The rivalry pushes both to get stronger until Ichigo beats him decisively in Hueco Mundo. Grimmjow survives that and the Quincy invasion of Hueco Mundo, and becomes a reluctant ally so he can finish things with Ichigo after Yhwach. He helps Kisuke Urahara kill the Schutzstaffel member Askin Nakk Le Vaar by tearing out his heart; the two are caught in Askin's dying "Gift Ball Deluxe" and saved by Nelliel.

Powers

Grimmjow is a skilled fighter who once trapped the stronger Ulquiorra in a Caja de Negación by surprise. His release gives him panther traits: jagged teeth, cat ears, claws, armoured hide and a whip-like tail, plus more speed and power, darts fired from his elbows and huge energy claws from his fingertips. He also uses the most powerful Cero variant of any Espada, which is banned inside Las Noches because it could destroy the palace.
