Dozer

The pilot and chef of the Nebuchadnezzar, killed by Cypher's lightning rifle.

Dozer (played by Anthony Ray Parker) is the pilot and chef of the Nebuchadnezzar in The Matrix. Unlike most crew members, he and his brother Tank were never fitted with the mechanical ports required to enter the Matrix, a trait that keeps them grounded in the real world. While other crew members jack into the Matrix, Dozer stays aboard the ship.

Quick Facts

Role:: Chef

Lore & Background

Like his brother Tank, Dozer cannot enter the Matrix, because he was born in Zion. They were never fitted with the necessary ports for jacking in. Consequently, his entire narrative arc takes place on the physical ship, the Nebuchadnezzar. His connection to Tank is central to his character: Tank is the ship's Operator, while Dozer is its pilot and chef. His life is cut short when he charges at Cypher, who has just attempted to murder Tank, and is killed instantly by Cypher's lightning rifle.

Reader's Guide

He is unable to enter the Matrix, unlike machine-bred humans such as Neo or Morpheus who possess mechanical ports. His primary functions are piloting the Nebuchadnezzar and cooking for the crew. He is Tank's brother, his sister Zee is married to Link, and his widow Cas appears in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. After Cypher betrays the crew and attempts to murder Tank, Dozer charges at him but is killed instantly by a lightning rifle blast.
